Our Story
With over 25 years of experience, we take a look at each project on its own terms. What can we do to best serve your vision? Steve Flato has been working in noise, experimental, industrial, ambient/drone, and otherwise challenging music since 2002. He can take on any kind of project. He has contributed music and compositions to such films as A24’s “It Comes At Night”. He was commissioned to compose for the world’s largest outdoor pipe organ in 2016. He can work within ANY GENRE to best serve your track, your film, education needs, mixing and mastering for your track, using an array of outboard equipment (if needed for your project, of course). Sometimes less is more, and most mastering is done in-the-box using Steinberg’s state of the art Wavelab 13 software and using state of the art plugins from FabFilter, Valhalla DSP, Melodyne pitch correction / auto-tune, and more. He will remix, mix, master, or give advice on your track. Just get in touch. He is an audio scientist and has an ear for your track.

Services
You provide audio stems to me from your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and I will mix your track and get it sounding as good as possible before the mastering stage.
Get your (already mixed) track ready for streaming (Apple Music, Spotify, etc) and make sure it sounds good next to a reference track of your choice.
Discount for both mixing & mastering your track. You provide the audio stems (separated audio tracks from your DAW or Digital Audio Workstation, or analog tape machine). We will mix the track with your goals in mind and tailored specifically towards your vision for the project. We will also Master it for streaming, CD/cassette/vinyl, or digital download.

Expertise Driven by Sound Innovation
For over 25 years, Steve Flato has been working in the field of electronic, experimental/ambient, film music, and otherwise weird and difficult music. He has a BA from Manhattanville College and was the first graduate of their Music Technology program in 2005. He has contributed music to such films as A24’s “It Comes at Night” and the new documentary “John Lilly and the Earth Control Coincidence” - narrated by Chloe Sevigny.
Let’s work together to get your project sounding as good as possible or to further your knowledge in this area of music with the array of tools available at Resting Place Studios, including Eurorack modular synth equipment, Elektron drum machines and samplers, Ableton Push 3 Standalone, and lots of outboard analog and digital gear. I don’t use AI in my productions, mixing, or mastering. Everything is done by hand and has a human touch, from someone with 25+ years of experience working with audio.
